Ecolle is an online platform aimed to help brands to establish sustainable long-term solutions to implement into their business model. Ecolle’s attempt to combat unethical and environmentally damaging practices in the fashion industry starts with creating an urgency for sustainability and transparency in the industry. Once brands take the initiative to inquire about a switch over from their unethical and environmentally damaging practices in the search for guidance on sustainable solutions, Ecolle will provide them with an ultimatum.
The Issue
-
10% of all human carbon emissions are due to the fashion industry’s unsustainable practices.
-
Clothing production has doubled since the year 2000.
-
Some fast-fashion companies produce up to 24 collections a year.
How Ecolle Plans to Bring a Global Perspective and Global Change
Fashion is a global, universal industry. Although some countries have different unsustainable and ethical practices, Ecolle attempts to unify and streamline all practices within the global industry. With the unique perspectives and knowledge of our global collaborators of different cultures, we have come up with a well-rounded list of solutions beneficial to all domestic fashion industries.

What We Offer
What We Offer
Our Sustainability Goals
Water
It takes over 2,000 liters of water to make the average t-shirt. In 2017 the fashion industry was estimated to have used 79 billion cubic meters of water a number that is predicted to increase by as much as 50% by 2030 if we don't make some serious changes to the fashion industry. The fashion industry is also responsible for 20% of the world's industrial chemical pollution from dyeing and processing fabric. Ecolle wants to help brands reduce their water use and find alternatives to traditional dying processes.
Textile Waste
North Americans send over 10 million tonnes of textile waste to landfills every year and the average person generates 37 kilograms of textile waste annually. Ecolle aims to combat textile waste by helping brands develop solutions such as zero-waste pattern cutting and textile recycling programs.
Inclusivity and Diversity
Here at ecolle, we believe fashion should be for everyone. Only 1.4% of models at NYFW 2020 fashion shows were plus-sized and only 46.8% of models were POC. Many major fashion retailers only sell clothing up to a US size 10 or size XL even though the average size woman is a US size 14. The fashion industry still has a long way to come in terms of diversity and inclusivity and ecolle hopes to be part of the solution.
Microfibre Shedding
Clothing is a major source of microplastic pollution. Synthetic fibres including polyester and acrylic make up over 60% of the material that makes our clothes. Every time these types of fibers are washed they shed tiny microfibers into our water and contribute to our worlds' growing microplastic pollution problem. Ecolle hopes that by education and sustainable solutions we can help to combat the issue of microfibre shedding.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The Fashion Industry is one of the world's biggest producers of greenhouse gas emissions behind the oil and gas industries. Ecolle aims to help fashion brands find sustainable solutions to reduce their emissions and find ways to offset emissions.
